IFC and Silk Way Airlines firmed delivery of Antonov AN-124-100

IFC and Silk Way Airlines have inked the terms of delivery of Antonov AN-124-100 freighter aircraft. The document has been signed by Alexander Rubtsov, CEO of Ilyushin Finance Co. and Zaur Akhundov, President of Silk Way Group.

AN-124-100 (reg. no. RA-82080) was manufactured in 2004 and previously operated by Russia’s Polet airline.

The aircraft will join the fleet of Silk Way Airlines (AZQ, Baku based, Silk Way Group member) which operates Ilyushin IL-76 and AN-12 freighters. Acquisition of AN-124-100 will be a sound milestone of the airline’s development, boosting its capabilities and competitive advantages at global cargo markets.

AN-124-100 is the civil version of the Ruslan, the largest serial freighter aircraft in the world. The aircraft has 120 ton maximum payload, features two deck layout (first accommodates the crew and loadmasters, second has 1 027 sq. m volume), large ramp and vast dimensions of the cargo compartment (4.4 x 6.4 x 36.5 m). AN-124-100 has unique capabilities to transport various outsized extra-heavy cargos up to 5 000 km (2 700 nm).
